Biodiversity COP rescheduled to 11-24 October

Mar 19, 2021

It was announced on Thursday 18 March that the global summit of the U.N. Convention on Biological Diversity is to be rescheduled to 11-24 October.

The summit, known as the '15th Conference of the Parties' (or 'COP'), will bring together world leaders to negotiate a new international framework to reverse biodiversity loss by mid-century. The event will take place in Kunming, China, which holds the rotating COP Presidency.

The meeting was originally due to take place in October 2020 and tentatively rescheduled to May of this year, but was postponed because the coronavirus pandemic prevented large in-person gatherings.
