Updates to the guidelines on the Covid Restrictions Support Scheme (CRSS) include information for claimants in the organised events sector, cinemas and theatres, and the group activity sector, who, as they resume business under certain conditions, will no longer be considered significantly restricted from operating.
In order to be eligible for the CRSS claimants are required to significantly restrict members of the business from having access to business premises in which the relevant business activity is carried on.
The guidelines now detail that businesses in the organised events sector and cinemas and theatres, who can resume their business activity from 6 September 2021 subject to certain conditions, are no longer regarded as being significantly restricted from operating and can now make a claim for the triple restart week payment where the business activity is recommenced.
Similarly, businesses in the organised group activity sector (sports, arts, culture, dance classes) who can resume their business activity from 20 September subject to certain conditions are no longer regarded as being significantly restricted from operating and can now make a claim for the triple restart week payment where the business activity is recommenced.
Information on how to make a claim for the enhanced restart week payment is included in section 7.4 of the guidelines.
Businesses who can reopen without significant restrictions but who choose not to do so will not be eligible for CRSS payments, including the enhanced restart week payment, for the period that they choose to remain closed.
See Revenue’s guidelines on the operation of the CRSS for further information.
