Institute President meets with over 100 members in Sydney and attends WCOA Conference

Nov 08, 2018

Last Friday, Institute President Feargal McCormack met with over 100 members at a special dinner event  in Sydney to network and to congratulate seven new members on their conferring. Olwyn Connolly, the Chair of the Australian Society was also awarded her FCA certificate at event.

Joining the members and the President were Institute CEO Barry Dempsey and representatives from the Senior Management Team Becky Bristow, Director of Member Services and Brendan O’Hora, Director of Marketing and Communications. Chartered Accountants Ireland was also honoured to have Consul General for New South Wales, Owen Feeney in attendance.

The Consul General hosted a breakfast briefing the following morning in the Irish Embassy. The event provided an opportunity for members to meet other senior Irish business people in Sydney. The Institute is very excited by this new collaboration with embassies around the world, and we hope that this programme of engagement with other Irish embassies and consulates will help to strengthen Irish business networks overseas and promote investment opportunities.

Feargal McCormack and Barry Dempsey have also attended the World Congress of Accountants as delegates from 5-8 November in Sydney.

The President’s Australian visit continued with an event in Melbourne where three members were conferred. Feargal will continue on to a trip to Singapore where he will meet more members. A selection of photos from Feargal's visit to Australia can be seen on Flickr.
