Speaker Bio

Mike O Halloran (FCA) is Technical Manager in the Advocacy and Voice Department of Chartered Accountants Ireland, where he works in the Professional Accounting team. Mike has over 15 years’ experience working with small and medium sized accounting firms. His day-to-day role involves the preparation of technical guidance material for members, monitoring developments of relevance to members and responding to consultations across various accounting disciplines, including financial reporting and sustainability.

Orla Carolan is Executive Director - ESG Strategy & Compliance at Future Planet having joined the startup in May 2024. Future Planet is an AI driven software platform that supports organisations in development of their sustainability strategy, management of their ESG data, completion of double materiality assessments and drafting of sustainability statements across a number of reporting frameworks including ESRS. Prior to Future Planet Orla was a Director at Grant Thornton and head of Finance Advisory until 2023 before establishing the CSRD advisory service line within sustainability advisory. Orla also spent 18 months working on secondment with EFRAG on the sector specific standard development programme. Orla was also previously Head of Financial Reporting for JPMorgan Hedge Fund Services responsible for end to end service and client delivery across the financial reporting and audit process for JPMorgan’s hedge fund business in Ireland.

Orla is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holds a B.A. in Business and Economics from Trinity College Dublin, a Diploma in Life and Executive Coaching and a Diploma (QQI) in Training Delivery and Evaluation. Orla is also a Certified Investment Fund Director (CIFD) and a past chair of the ACCA Business Leaders Forum (2022 & 2023). Orla also lectures on the CAI Diploma in Sustainability Reporting and regularly delivers on CPD events for both ACCA and CAI.
