Storytelling

A core learning principle is the principle of Storytelling. We believe that stories have the power to engage, inspire, and motivate learners, and that they can be a powerful tool for driving behavior change.

Our approach to Storytelling is designed to edutain our students with organizational experiences they can identify with. We believe that by sharing stories that are relatable and impactful, we can help our students connect with the material and better understand how it applies to real-world situations.

Our stories promote consistency throughout the program by using the same companies and personalities at different points in different subjects. This approach helps to reinforce key concepts and build familiarity with the material, while also providing a sense of continuity and coherence to the learning experience.

To ensure that our stories are as engaging and effective as possible, we also apply modern, Netflix-style storytelling techniques. This includes developing story and character arcs that span multiple subjects and help to create a sense of progression and narrative momentum.

Overall, our Storytelling learning principle is designed to provide students with a rich and engaging learning experience. By using relatable stories and characters, we help our students connect with the material on a deeper level, while also promoting consistency and coherence throughout the program.

Some techniques we plan to include in our story telling are:

  1. Character-driven storytelling: Modern episodic storytelling places a heavy emphasis on creating compelling and nuanced characters. Characters are given depth, backstory, and personal struggles that make them relatable and engaging to the audience. By creating characters that feel like real people, modern storytellers can draw viewers in and keep them invested in the story.
  2. Serial storytelling: Rather than telling self-contained stories in each episode, modern episodic storytelling tends to focus on serial storytelling. This means that each case study advances the overall story arc, building tension and momentum over the course of the season. This helps to create a sense of urgency and investment in the story that keeps viewers coming back.
  3. Pacing: Modern episodic storytelling is often paced like a long-form novel, rather than a traditional TV show. This means that there may be slower, more contemplative episodes interspersed with more action-packed ones. This helps to create a sense of tension and release, and allows the story to breathe and develop at a natural pace.
  4. Narrative complexity: Finally, modern episodic storytelling often employs complex narratives that require viewers to pay close attention and make connections between seemingly disparate events. This can make the storytelling more rewarding for students who are willing to invest the time and effort to understand the story, and can create a sense of intellectual engagement that is missing from standard case studies.
