Aisling McCaffrey, Associate Director, Financial Services Advisory, Grant Thornton, and Caroline McGroary, Assistant Professor of Accounting, Dublin City University, have been awarded the first ever joint Chartered Star award for 2020/21.
Aisling and Caroline will represent the Institute at the prestigious international One Young World summit in Munich in 2021, along with other representatives of the Chartered Accountants Worldwide network.
To enter the competition, Aisling and Caroline shared how they are currently supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, personally and/or professionally.
Aisling particularly impressed the judging panel with her activity as a mentor with the Trinity Access Programme, and for her roles with the Green Team network, the committee for 100 Women in Finance and the board of the Irish Touch Rugby Association.
Caroline particularly impressed the judging panel with an initiative she developed to tackle the risk of financial exclusion for women in Saudi Arabia. The social media campaign reached over 1 million users and the initiative was nominated for a number of awards and presented at international conferences.
