Our client is a growing organisation with a longstanding reputation of success in the financial services sector ( mortgages ) seeking a financial accountant to report to the FC.
Department: • Finance & Treasury
Reporting to: • Financial Controller
Key Responsibilities:
• Supporting the financial controller in the preparation of monthly management account and annual financial statements for the group’s parent company.
• Responsible for preparation and maintenance of monthly general ledgers for multiple vehicles across the group, i.e. journal posting, schedule maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations etc. As well as supporting outsourced service providers responsible for the preparation of financial statements and resulting audit.
• Preparation of quarterly management accounts and annual financial statements for certain group companies and management of resulting audits.
• Responsibility for the company’s accounts payable processes including issuance of PO’s and management of the accounts payable system.
• Supporting treasury operations including:
o Review and challenge monthly servicer reports, financial packs and bank reconciliations for mortgage books received from outsourced service providers.
o Review and testing of monthly/quarterly investor reports for the groups RMBS and Warehouse funders.
o Assisting the team on the issuance and settlement of transactions.
• Ensure proactive identification of any issues and challenges and put forward suggestions or solutions.
• Pro-actively ensure controls and checks are in place to reduce the risk of data error.
• Manage the Finance & Treasury risk register, ensuring that all known risks are documented and mitigated through the use of proper controls.
Experience
• The successful candidate will typically be a recently quailed ACA who trained in financial services or alternatively in a financial services audit department or similar.
• Experience in external reporting preferred.
• Knowledge of the mortgage process and retail banking products preferred but not essential.
Education and Skills
• ACA Big 4
• Relevant third level qualification.
• Very strong attention to detail, ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Ability to work on your own initiative as well as in a team environment.
• Must have a very flexible approach to work and be confident working in a fast moving, exciting environment.
• Resilient, energetic, and enthusiastic
• Strong communication skills with an ability to deal with all levels in a confident and professional manner
• Data/MI skills ability to create & design reports with strong MS Excel skills
