As of Autumn 2020, the Diploma in Excellence in Financial Reporting will replace the existing financial reporting programmes.

Gaining enhanced technical skills and being able to communicate financial reporting information effectively enhances your ability to move up the career ladder in your organisation or supports your next career move.

This brand new, specially developed programme meets this need and will fast track your path to becoming a future finance leader. It enables you to tailor the programme to fit your specific current or aspirational financial reporting regime (IFRS, FRS, US GAAP)., whilst ensuring you upskill in integrated reporting and develop your financial reporting communication skills.

The Diploma in Excellence in Financial Reporting is designed for qualified accountants who aspire to develop their career and who are aiming to improve their technical abilities while enhancing their communication skills.

The Diploma in Excellence in Financial Reporting has been developed based on research of the key skills that have been identified as requirements for those working in financial reporting and those who wish to develop their career further.
You will develop specialised financial reporting competencies in your chosen financial reporting standards, as well as increasing your understanding of integrated reporting and communication skills, helping you work with and guide the key people in and outside your organisation. These will empower you on your personal journey to understand and best utilise your financial reporting expertise.

Content overview

Across the six modules, this programme combines theory, as well as significant focus on practical case studies to boost your understanding of your selected financial reporting standards. The programme also covers integrated reporting focusing on real-life examples. You will also learn the vital practical skills around communicating both in written format and in person to boards, your peers, teams and superiors. The programme is the next step on your financial journey, developing your technical and communication skills.


The Diploma in Excellence in Financial Reporting runs for two weekends (Friday 2pm - 7pm and Saturday 9am - 2pm) and from then on via distance learning. Alternatively, the entire programme can be taken via distance learning. The following schedule details the module topics and dates of delivery for each.


All participants must take modules one and two, and then will select their elective of either IFRS, FRS or US GAAP.

All of our programmes count towards both structured and unstructured CPD. 

The exact amounts of structured hours allowable under the regulations governing chartered accountants depends on attendance, home reading of programme materials and completing assignments.

Further structured and non structured hours may be claimed for completion of assignments but these will vary for each individual.

Please note that those operating in regulated areas may need to undertake additional relevant CPD to meet their obligations.
