Breaking Barriers  

The theme of this year’s online conference is Breaking Barriers. Join our panel of expert speakers as they explore how to break barriers and overcome the obstacles—both around us and within us—that hold back growth and transformation. This session will empower attendees to challenge limitations, unlock potential, and take bold steps toward lasting success.

The afternoon sessions, which are run and delivered by the District Societies, will enable participants to choose from topics specific to their own requirements.

  • Keynote speaker: Breaking barriers : Making your mark - Cora Staunton. 

    Cora Staunton is widely recognised for her trailblazing career across multiple sports, including ladies' Gaelic football, rugby union, and Australian rules football. Her journey is emblematic of resilience, adaptability, and the courage to challenge norms. Join us to hear Cora’s take on Making your Mark.

  • Challenging perceptions - Adrian Whelan, Managing Director and Global Head of Market Intelligence for Investor Services. Adrian will share his personal and professional journey—emphasising the power of authenticity, resilience and speaking up. His talk will explore how individuals and organisations can dismantle limiting beliefs and foster environments where diverse voices thrive.

  • Practical ways to overcome obstacles - Dawn Leane, Founder and CEO at Leane Leaders and Leane Empower. The session will equip you with actionable strategies to identify and overcome both personal and professional barriers. Dawn’s emphasis will be on practical takeaways that participants can implement immediately to improve confidence, decision-making, and career progression.

  • Scaling a business - Anthony Gallagher, Managing Director of Petstop. 

    Anthony’s session will explore the journey of scaling Petstop from a single outlet into Ireland’s leading independent pet retailer. His talk will blend strategic insights with personal anecdotes, offering practical steps for entrepreneurs and business leaders aiming to grow sustainably and competitively.

Francesca McDonagh Group Chief Executive Officer, Bank of Ireland Group Opening Speaker - The evolution of banking – today and beyond
  • Francesca was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer in October 2017. Bank of Ireland is a diversified financial services group established in 1783 and is one of the largest financial services groups in Ireland.
  • Francesca joined Bank of Ireland from the HSBC Group, where she held a number of key senior management roles over a twenty year period including Regional Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management, UK and Europe; Regional Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Middle East and North Africa; and Head of Personal Financial Services, Hong Kong.
  • Francesca is a member of the PRA Practitioner Panel. She has previously served on the Board of the British Bankers’ Association (BBA), where she was Deputy Chair and on the Board of the National Centre for Universities and Business in the UK. Francesca has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University.
