employment tax field.
Course overview
- PAYE/payroll audits - Revenue, what to expect etc, bearing in mind the
proposed new code, areas of downfalls, what’s current?
- Tax Efficient Remuneration (Maura Ginty, Gintax) - This session will
consider the design and structuring of tax efficient remuneration
strategies.
- Remote Working: Employment Tax Issues (Stephane Wickham, expattaxes.ie)
- This session explores the employment tax issues relating to remote
working.
- Pensions (Munro O'Dwyer, PwC) - An updated and contemporary overview of
the pensions landscape; business owner and employee plans; maximum employer
and employee contributions; taking benefits from a pension plan; tax relief
on life insurance.
- Payroll software Issues and Compliance - An overview of payroll software
procedural and compliance issues encountered over the past year and future
payroll technology strategies into 2022.
- Panel Discussion.
The event will be moderated by Crona Clohisey, Tax and Public Policy Lead,
Chartered Accountants Ireland. Barry Dempsey, Chief Executive of Chartered

Martin Hunt - Revenue Assistant Principal, Revenue
Commissioners-Personal Division, PAYE Information, Modernisation and Support
Branch
Sarah Waters - Revenue, Principal Officer, Compliance Policy
and Evaluation Branch, Accountant General and Strategic Planning Division,
Revenue. Bio: Sarah is a CTA with 19 years’ experience gained in the Group
Taxation department of a large plc, a Big 4 firm and since 2018 Revenue. Sarah
has significant experience in the employment tax area including global mobility
and compensation and benefits. On joining Revenue, Sarah worked in Personal Tax
Policy and Legislation in Revenue’s Legislation Services division until moving
to Compliance Policy in mid-2020.
Maura Ginty FCA - Maura advises private Irish business and
families on tax; she has her own firm Gintax and before this was with KPMG for
16 years as tax adviser. She is a Chartered Accountant and member of Irish
Taxation Institute
Stephanie Wickham (FCA) - Stephanie Wickham is a Fellow of
the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and a Chartered Tax Adviser.
She holds a MBS in Accounting and has worked with KPMG Dublin and KPMG
Australia. She is the Founder of expattaxes.ie - an Irish boutique tax practice
that focuses on supporting Irish employers who wish to relocate employees to or
from Ireland
Munro O'Dwyer (FSAI) - Munro is a Partner in PwC and is a
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland. Munro has over 25 years'
experience of advising companies and individuals in relation to pension issues.
Munro is a member of the Pensions Council, a body that was set up to advise the
Minister for Social Protection on matters relating to policy on pensions, to
represent and protect the consumer interest and help to ensure that the system
has a far stronger consumer focus.
Crona Clohisey is the Tax and Public Policy Lead in
Chartered Accountants Ireland and is a Chartered Accountant and Associate of the
Irish Taxation Institute. Cróna has spent over 10 years working in tax
consultancy in both KPMG and Grant Thornton and now researches, represents and
publicly comments on tax and public policy issues that affect members on the
island of Ireland. Cróna has contributed to several publications including The
Next Financial Year: Supporting Business Through Recovery, Sustainability for
Accountants, A guide to FDI in Northern Ireland, Pensions in Ireland, as well as
several guides on EU exit, VAT and customs.
Elaine Flynn - Elaine joined Grant Thornton in 2016 having
previously worked as a tax assistant manager in a Big Four firm. Elaine
specialises in employment and payroll taxes, global mobility and workforce
restructuring issues, including taxation, social security and reward and has
significant experience in advising clients from start-ups to Irish large
indigenous and listed multinational companies.
Elaine provides employer and employee payroll tax compliance and consulting
services to a range of overseas listed multinationals and international
companies. She has experience in providing a range of taxation and social
security services including shadow payroll services, short term business
travellers tracking and reporting and share remuneration reporting. Elaine has
also extensive experience in workforce restructuring programmes, carrying out
payroll tax/PAYE reviews and health checks.
