FAQs

Access and key dates

When do access changes happen?

  • 5:00pm, Friday 12 June 2026: Deadline to download any required historic records
  • 5:00pm, Friday 26 June 2026: CPA member and firm logins will no longer be available
  • 9:00am, Monday 29 June 2026: Migration go-live — access via the Chartered Accountants Ireland website begins using the credentials you will be provided with (mandatory password reset required)

Important:
Until go-live, members and firms should continue to log in via the CPA Ireland website as normal.

Access and accounts

Why am I not logging in through the Chartered Accountants Ireland website yet?
Access will change from go-live (Monday 29 June 2026). Until then, members and firms should continue to use the CPA Ireland website.

As part of the integration of CPA Ireland and Chartered Accountants Ireland, we are moving to a single member platform to ensure consistent access, accurate data and an improved member experience.

Do I need to create a new account?
No. You do not need to create a new account.

From go-live, you will access your account via the Chartered Accountants Ireland website using your updated username/Member ID. You will be required to reset your password on first login. Full login details will be provided in advance.

Membership and data

Has my membership changed?
No. Your membership type, status and entitlements remain the same.

Will my Member/Firm ID change?
To bring CPA records into a single system, each member requires a unique ID. Adding “20” to your existing number allows this to happen with minimal disruption (e.g. 123456 becomes 20123456).

Firm IDs will remain the same.

Is all of my data being migrated?
All essential information required to manage your membership will transfer to the new system.

Why is some historic data not being migrated?
Some historical or archived data will not transfer to the new system. This information is retained securely in line with regulatory requirements and remains available internally if needed. No important data will be lost.

This information will remain available internally if required, but will not be accessible through your online account.

Records and documents

Will I still be able to access my historic records?
Historic invoices, certificates and documents will not be accessible through your new account after migration.

If you require copies, we recommend downloading these before 5:00pm, Friday 12 June 2026.

This information will remain available internally if required, but will not be accessible through your online account.

What records should I download before the migration?
If relevant, we recommend retaining copies of:

  • CPD records
  • Invoices and receipts
  • Previous annual returns (for older records)
  • RI CPD records
  • Fit and Proper declarations (copies of previous years will have been emailed to you)

2026 Practising certificates will be available in the new system.

Website and access changes

Will the CPA Ireland website remain available?
Following migration, the CPA Ireland website will no longer be available to members and firms.

It will remain accessible in a limited capacity for CPA legacy students completing their studies.

Will CPA logins continue to work?
CPA logins will no longer be available for members and firms from 5:00pm, Friday 26 June 2026.

CPA legacy students will continue to use the CPA system for the duration of their studies.

Directory, firms and visibility

Will my details appear in the member directory?
Yes. Following the migration:

  • Individual members will appear in the member directory
  • Members with a Practising Certificate will appear under Members in Practice
  • Regulated firms will appear in the Firms section

Will people know I was previously a CPA member?
Your updated Member ID will follow the same format as all members.

Your designation (CPA/FCPA) will still be visible, and under the amalgamation you may also use ACA/FCA where applicable.

Services and activities

Where do I access technical materials?

Technical materials will be available through the Knowledge Centre and within the member area on the Chartered Accountants Ireland website.

Where do I complete my annual return?
Annual returns will be completed through your account on the Chartered Accountants Ireland website.

When will I receive my annual return?
Further information will be issued in line with regulatory timelines.

Subscriptions and fees
Subscriptions and regulatory fees will continue on the usual cycle, with further communication issued in advance. Payment will be made through the Chartered Accountants Ireland system.

Firm annual returns
Firms will complete their next annual return in 2027, with communication and instructions issued in advance.

Subscriptions and payment

Do I need to pay before the system migration?
If your member or firm subscription is outstanding, we strongly encourage you to complete payment in advance of the migration to ensure your account remains up to date and to avoid any disruption.

Will I still be able to pay after migration?
Yes. Following migration, all payments will continue to be made through the Chartered Accountants Ireland system. More information for members and firms on the Chartered Accountants Ireland website

Students and mentors

Will CPA legacy students be affected?
No. CPA legacy students will continue their studies on the CPA system until completion.

I am a mentor to a CPA student — what does this mean for me?
You will continue to support your student. All CPA legacy mentors will receive new access to MYCPA for this purpose. Direct communications will issue with further details.
