Five things you need to know about tax, 5 February 2021

In Irish tax developments, Revenue published a list of employers who received payments under the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) during 2020, and there is a new Tax and Duty Manual on remote audit interventions during COVID-19. In UK developments read the latest updates relating to the 2019/20 self-assessment deadline and COVID-19 support schemes. While in international tax, the European Commission has extended the State aid Temporary Framework until 31 December 2021.


  1. The list of employers who received EWSS payments in 2020 includes 39,800 eligible employers who received over €1.4 billion for 443,100 employees;
  2. A new Tax and Duty Manual provides guidance to caseworkers on conducting remote Revenue interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic;
