The ROS Pay and File deadline for taxpayers to file their 2020 Form 11 return and make payments for preliminary tax for 2021 was extended to Friday 19 November in light of COVID-19 developments. Revenue told Chartered Accountants Ireland that the number of Form 11 returns filed for 2020 is 560,267 which is 10,000 higher than last year. Revenue is processing requests received as of Friday evening from 137 tax agents seeking extensions for approximately 3,400 clients under Revenue’s exceptional circumstance facility. Revenue is still accepting requests for the exceptional circumstance facility due to COVID-19 today. Members should submit a list of any such returns to Revenue via MyEnquiries today.
As previously published in Tax News, agents should notify Revenue via MyEnquiries (Select “Collector General’s” and More Specifically “General Query”) outlining the exceptional difficulties they are experiencing and include the list of clients affected and their PPSNs on a Microsoft excel document. Revenue will reply to the notification and accept the request for the non-application of late filing surcharges or decline the request. Surcharges will not be suspended where the tax agent/taxpayer has a record of filing tax returns late.
