Book

An Introduction to Business Law is written in a style that breaks down the complexities of the law in a simple and concise manner so that it can be easily understood by students preparing for either academic or professional examinations.

This 2nd edition covers the core areas of law relating to the functions of modern Irish business, namely the Law of Contract, Tort, Consumer Law, Employment Law, Planning and Development Law, etc. The text is tailored to the law course of Chartered Accountants Ireland as well as to the syllabi of the various accountancy bodies, including the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA), the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI). It is designed for the many business law modules that form part of third-level courses throughout Ireland.

Company law and compliance, in particular, are covered extensively over five separate chapters: Company Formation; Company Management; Shares, Shareholders and Share Capital; Company Insolvency and Business Recovery; and Compliance and Enforcement. The text also examines Corporate Governance, one of the most topical and relevant areas in contemporary business studies.

Importantly, as well as being updated for current law generally, this 2nd Edition includes detailed discussion over five chapters of the Companies Act 2014, the most significant event in Irish company law since 1963. A substantial amount of new review questions and suggested solutions have also been added to each chapter.
