Anne Marie Ward’s textbook is the seminal text for the study of business
finance. It develops the skills and knowledge required by business finance
professionals to support corporate decision-making on investments, financing and
dividend distributions. It balances practical worked examples to illustrate how
theoretical models can support decision-making with a critical approach to such
models being used and relied on in isolation.
This 5th edition takes a holistic approach, emphasising
awareness of the global and geopolitical macroeconomic environment and its
impact on companies and their competitors. An integrated-thinking approach to
decision-making is adopted, one that encourages business finance professionals
to consider the 'six capitals' and the overall impact on stakeholders. This
is supported by real-world examples and empirical research on the consequences
of decisions on, for example, the environment, society and the behaviour of
investors.
To support exam preparation, Finance: Theory and Practice includes
worked examples throughout, and review questions and exam-standard questions,
with which students can text their knowledge. Resources for lecturers, including
solutions to more challenging questions, are made available online.
This new edition:
- considers contemporary financing options, su and the role of AI and fintech;
- discusses and integrates sustainability and ESG issues
in the context of finance decision-making;
- is updated to reflect recent economic circumstances as well as legal and
regulatory changes;
- provides more current, real-world examples to bring the theory to
life.
