Blended distance options CAP1, CAP2 & FAE

The Distance programme was introduced in 2014-2015 as a blended learning approach with reduced contact time. This was created to offer flexibility to students who may find it difficult to attend all the contact sessions on the traditional model. It was designed with the self-directed learner in mind; ahead of each workshop you are required to view and engage with theory-based online recordings; at the practical workshops you have an opportunity to review areas you struggled with and work through questions.

The Distance programme is available in Dublin, Belfast and Galway across all three levels.

The same material and content is offered to both the distance students and those attending the traditional model and the exam structure is also the same. Some additional online supports available:

  • Guidance emails throughout the course to help map your progress and keep you on track
  • Online ‘Ask Me Anything’ (AMA) sessions with the lecturers
  • Slack – A collaborative hub offering lecturer and peer support

An introduction and structure document for each programme is available which is essential reading.  A sample document is available below, as we are currently finalising timetables and updating the curriculum material for 2018/19 and we will have this ready for publication shortly.
