Student Support Executive - Flexible Route - CLOSED

Chartered Accountants Ireland is establishing two Student Support Executive – Flexible Route roles to develop and manage relationships with Flexible Route students in the business, practice and public sectors. The overall purpose of the team is to enhance the customer experience and drive use of Institute services. The function will be a key enabler to the Institute’s strategic objective of developing the flexible entry route to the Chartered Accountant qualification (ACA) on the island of Ireland.

The Education & Training Department of Chartered Accountants Ireland is responsible for the education, training and assessment of approx. over 6,000 students. Over 1,000 of these students are availing of Flexible Route training in the business, financial services, public and retail sectors.

The Student Support Executive – Flexible Route role will provide a comprehensive support and guidance service for recognised training firms, and students on the Flexible Route programme. This includes quality assurance of student training programmes including the CA (Chartered Accountant) Diary.

The blended learning experience of a Chartered Accountant student requires the completion of a CA (Chartered Accountant) a reflective learning journal, which evidences the required competencies gained through work experience. This role will support and guide the completion of the Flexible Route student’s CA diary and raise the understanding and awareness of competencies and requirements for qualifications.  

The Role:

The role of Student Support Executive will offer on-going effective two-way communication, facilitation and support of Flexible Route students in both their education and training development. The areas of responsibility cover:

  • Student Administration

The Expectations:

Student Engagement

  • Key point of contact for all Flexible Route student enquiries
  • Admin support to mentors of Flexible Route students including CA diary & Training Support
  • Manage relationships with Flexible Route students on behalf of the Institute to enhance customer experience
  • Scheduling, support and co-ordination of activities related to Training Support visits
  • Management and updating of Training Vacancies webpage
  • Data Management; filing and archiving of related documentation
  • Organisation of venues for each course centre assessment
  • Coordination and invigilating of assignment days and mock examinations

Education Development

  • Specific communication, facilitation and educational support of Flexible Route students
  • Provide feedback on lecturer and student performance
  • Liaise with regional course coordinators and lecturers to ensure the smooth running of courses and assessments
  • Work with subject and programme leaders to develop effective student supports
  • Manage course content on the student website
  • Manage recording of online content
  • Organisation of venues for course centres and assessment
Customer Focus & Collaboration
  • Provide proactive support, advice and assistance to students in relation to their studies and professional development.
  • Respond to all Flexible Support student queries within agreed time frames
  • Collaborate effectively internally sharing information and operating within agreed Service Level Agreements
  • Regularly attend class groups to ensure issues are discovered and dealt with proactively

Student Administration 

  • Course and examination enrolment within Chartered Accountants Ireland regulations
  • Processing of payments
  • Filing of application forms and spreadsheets.
  • Dealing with general student queries for Flexible Route Students
  • Processing payments for Appeal Applications.
  • Liaising with colleagues across the organisation to ensure process completion

The Candidate:

The Student Support Executive should have demonstrable experience in a customer centric culture providing best in class customer centric engagement. Experience in the education or professional services sector is preferable but not essential.

Other skills required:

  • Have exceptionally strong customer orientation and organisational skills with the ability to coordinate the blended learning experience for the Flexible Route.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience of compiling professional correspondence including letter writing / email etc.
  • Have a keen interest in keeping up-to-date with changes that will affect the delivery of education and the student experience.
  • Excel at managing a diverse and challenging workload, varying from complex administrative functions to people management.
  • Have the ability to process large volumes of information.
  • Have excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Be personally effective, managing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in working in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Candidates should possess a degree-level or have equivalent professional qualification or significant professional experience in a similar role.

Normal working hours are weekdays 9.00 – 5.30 with one hour for lunch. However, flexibility is essential as attendance at occasional weekend and evening events will be required.
