Our client is seeking a commercially driven Financial Controller to take full ownership of the finance function and play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of the business.
Reporting directly to the Directors, this is a senior leadership position with broad influence across strategy, operations, and financial performance. The role will lead a significant transformation of the finance function, modernising systems, strengthening controls, and introducing AI enabled tools to enhance insight, efficiency, and decision making.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
• Act as a trusted business partner to the Directors, contributing to strategic planning and key commercial decisions.
• Support new business initiatives, contract evaluations, pricing strategies, and commercial negotiations.
• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long term financial planning processes.
Finance Transformation & Systems
• Review existing finance systems and lead the implementation of a modern, scalable finance platform.
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, enhanced reporting, and selective adoption of AI driven tools.
• Strengthen cost control, margin optimisation, and cash flow management across the business.
Financial Performance & Operations
• Take full ownership of financial performance, working closely with operational and commercial teams.
• Partner with operations to improve cost control, margin visibility, and supplier relationship management.
• Provide clear financial insight to support operational efficiency and profitability.
Reporting, Governance & Control
• Ensure full statutory and regulatory compliance, including VAT, PAYE, and other relevant obligations.
• Produce accurate, timely monthly management accounts, KPIs, and board level reporting.
• Manage the year end process, external audit, and maintain robust internal controls and governance frameworks.
Leadership & Team Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a high performance and continuous improvement culture.
• Support ongoing professional development, capability building, and succession planning within the team.

Experience & Qualifications
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CPA)
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or similar senior finance leadership role.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of supporting business growth and strategic initiatives.
• Experience leading finance transformation projects or system implementations.
• High level of systems literacy; exposure to AI enabled finance tools is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and leadership skills.
