Course overview

The Diploma in Strategic Financial Leadership builds the set of skills required to excel in the finance function today. Transform your role with new leadership and strategic finance skills to become a driver of your organisation’s strategic direction and performance: this fresh and practical programme will help you to adapt and stay relevant in a business landscape that is volatile and dynamic.

The syllabus addresses emerging topics that are changing the face of the finance function, including the importance of human engagement and emotional intelligence, finance business partnership, thriving in uncertainty, strategic thinking, sustainable purpose, and techniques adapted from the tech world such as data analytics.

Entry requirements

This programme has been designed to meet the needs of finance professionals and is open to:

  • qualified accountants, including members of Chartered Accountants Ireland and other recognised professional bodies
  • holders of a degree at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent qualification and
  • applicants with relevant experience in finance, business or another field.
Applicants other than members of Chartered Accountants Ireland must provide details showing how their experience or qualifications are relevant, or evidence of membership of their relevant professional body.

Fees are fully-inclusive and will cover registration, course materials, tuition fees and exam fees.

How you study

The Diploma in Strategic Financial Leadership is delivered through a mix of:
  • self-paced, on-demand micro lectures
  • participation in interactive live online sessions
  • self-study and preparation of an assessed portfolio of practical work.

Online sessions and programme assessments are all facilitated through a virtual learning environment.

Assessment

The course is assessed through a portfolio of work: two reflective learning logs, two practical application reports, and a final capstone presentation delivered to examiners with questions from the panel.

The portfolio body of work links the concepts with real workplace issues, providing you with a tangible output that you can take back and use to advance your role and career.

CPD hours

This programme offers structured and unstructured CPD hours contact time. The exact number of hours that can be claimed as CPD will vary for each individual depending on time expended and the requirements of their professional body.
