Make Your Data AI-Ready (ROI/NI)

Summary
Many organisations struggle to use AI effectively because of siloed systems and poor-quality data. This one-day course shows how AI can help clean, prepare and combine data from multiple sources, reducing manual work and improving reporting processes. Participants learn practical ways to automate recurring reports and data preparation tasks, freeing up more time for analysis, insights and decision-making.

Format

This course will be delivered via Zoom. The Zoom link will be emailed to participants the day before the course is due to take place.

It is highly advised that participants attend this course before registering for the 'AI-Driven Data Automation (ROI/NI)' courses.

Who Should Attend

This course is ideal for people who work with data and regular reporting - for example:

  • Accountants and finance teams who prepare monthly/quarterly reports
  • Data and business analysts
  • Excel or Power Query users
  • Managers who need accurate data for decisions
  • Anyone who regularly gathers data from multiple sources

What You Will Learn

1. Getting Started with AI and Data:

  • What AI can do to help with data tasks
  • How AI tools can help automate repetitive work like cleaning and combining information from different sources

    2. Preparing Data with AI

  • Use AI tools to help configure Power Query to:
    • remove duplicate entries
    • fix missing or wrongly-formatted data
    • organise and standardise numbers, dates and text

These steps make data ready for regular reports without manual cleanup.

3. Bringing Data Together Easily:

  • Automatically pull data from:
    • Excel files
    • Databases
    • Web pages or online systems

AI helps format and merge it all so it matches up correctly.

    4. Making Data Ready for Reporting

    • AI can:
      • Combine data from different systems
      • Spot unusual results that need checking
      • Suggest ways to organise data for better insights

This dramatically reduces the time needed to build your periodic reports.

      5. Real-World Practice

Hands-on exercises show you how to apply all of the above to real data — not just theory.

      Key Learning Outcomes

      • Save valuable reporting time: Reduce the hours spent each month gathering, cleaning and reconciling data from different systems. AI helps streamline the process so reporting cycles are faster and less stressful.
      • Eliminate repetitive month-end tasks: Stop repeating the same manual steps every reporting period. AI can automate routine data preparation, reconciliations and formatting so month-end and quarter-end processes become more efficient.
      • Improve accuracy and reduce risk: AI tools can detect inconsistencies, duplicates and missing information, helping reduce errors and strengthen the reliability of financial reports.
      • Create consistent, audit-ready data: Standardised and well-structured data makes it easier to support internal reviews, audits and compliance requirements.
      • Focus on analysis, not administration: With data preparation and report building automated, finance professionals can spend more time on insight, forecasting and strategic decision-making.

Key Skills You'll Walk Away With

      • Use AI to automate repetitive data tasks
      • Prepare data for regular reporting with less manual work
      • Find and fix data problems automatically
      • Combine data from multiple places smoothly
      • Save time and reduce errors in your monthly/quarterly reports

All Participants Should Please Note the Following

      • Software Setup Required: Participants should have a Microsoft 365 subscription but supported older desktop versions are workable.
      • ChatGPT Account: Prior to the course, all participants should register for a free account on ChatGPT so they can complete the hands-on exercises.
      • Microsoft Copilot: Participants should also have a Microsoft account to log in to Microsoft Copilot and should do this prior to the course.
      • Two Monitors Recommended: Allows better viewing of the trainer's screen and relevant Microsoft 365 application or AI site. If you only have a single screen, please inform us prior to the course.
