What do they look like?

At this point you are focusing on honing the skills you learned during your training; you may be exploring options to expand these.

Your technical skills are the knowledge and abilities to perform your core business and financial duties, whichever area you are working in.

Auditing, accounting and financial reporting - What are the landmarks?

  • Know the key auditing and accounting standards and legislation combined with the ability to interpret and apply them
  • Be able to research and assess the impact of relevant emerging technical issues
  • Be able to prepare financial statements for business combinations including consolidated accounts
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical issues and research solutions for these
  • Understand financial evaluation techniques
  • Appreciate financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow analysis techniques
  • Identify gaps in information and make assumptions in order to continue analysis
  • Know the key control and operational risks of a business.

Information technology - What are the landmarks?

  • Be able to use auditing and accounting software packages
  • Be able to confidently use a minimum of intermediate Excel and presentation software

Focusing on achievement - What are the landmarks?

  • Generate results to deadlines by being focused and strive to improve processes and procedures
