Attracting and educating
the next generation
To attract and educate the next generation we will
continue to evolve our entry level qualifications to
meet market need, forge alliances that will give us
greater reach into this demographic and speak
out on issues that demonstrate our relevance.
Our Education and Training Framework will remain
the central pillar of this strategic workstream.
Upholding trust in the profession
Our approach to regulation will be about maintaining the highest public trust and confidence in a system that is working well.
As a regulator we will work with firms to encourage good practice and adopt a ‘prevention is better than cure’ approach that places a strong emphasis on educating member firms on ‘what good looks like’. This will be particularly important given the impact of private equity funding across the audit market where there is increased outside pressure to demonstrate continued independence.
Relevant, future focused development and support for members
We need to champion the fact that we are not just as gatekeepers to the profession but a life-long career partner. That means supporting members at critical junctures such as the move into industry, returning to work and stepping into the boardroom so that they have the skills and the expertise to thrive in a world that is changing at pace.
Building on the success of Strategy24 we will use the education and training framework we have developed to provide the same, targeted, user-friendly approach for members so that their experience of our education and training pre and post qualification is seamless and that they get the support they need to develop in the direction they choose.
A strong and effective voice
Strategy24 was about ‘getting a seat at the table’. Having achieved that goal we now need to focus on influencing policy and regulatory outcomes that support the long-term sustainability of the profession, and which demonstrate our commitment to the public interest.
We will use member expertise and insight to provide the evidence base for our public representations, enabling us to shape and influence meaningful policy outcomes that reflect the views of the profession.
Recognising the degree to which change is impacting across the profession at all levels we will provide our members with insight and perspective on what is happening so that they can understand and take commercial advantage of this change.
Working with organisations such as the Chartered Accountants Worldwide, the Global Accounting Alliance and the International Federation of Accountants we will pool our resources to better understand change drivers, likely impact and what it will take for the profession to respond.
