Course overview
The event is designed to provide highlights of the most interesting findings
from the Edelman DxI research and to have a frank discussion on the ethical
behaviours and outcomes that drives trust in the accounting profession amongst
business decision makers and how ethics can help accountants address some of our
most challenging professional issues. There will be a focus on issues such
as:
- The role of accountants in responding to a crisis, and expectations from
decision-makers
- The increasing relevance of purpose and expectations for accountants to
advise on sustainability, diversity, equity and inclusion, etc.
- The reliance on accountants as guardians of governance
- Expectations of decision makers for accountants in relation to automation,
and artificial intelligence
- The evolving role of audit services and expectations for the future
- Understanding the role of ethics in the profession, its increasing
relevance for earning trust and ensuring accountants act in the public
interest.
- How ethics can help us address some of our most challenging professional
issues
Key Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Interpret the research findings and understand the impact on their role as
a Chartered Accountant.
- Describe examples of ethical behaviours that improves trust, prevents
reputational damage.
- Reflect on measures that promote ethical behaviours and identify tools and
techniques that assist in resolving ethical dilemmas.
- Explain some of the current challenges facing professional accountants and
how ethics awareness can help address these.
- Describe the expectations of business decision makers from the accounting
profession and how they will respond to emerging risks and opportunities.
