Speaker Bio's
David Swinburne is a financial advisory partner at
Mazars. With over 20 years of experience as a Chartered Accountant, he
specialises in various areas, including business advisory, turnaround and
restructuring, corporate finance, transaction services, and forensic
accounting. David's expertise lies in advising Irish family businesses and
SMEs at all stages of their life cycle, from start-up to growth phases. He
provides strategic advice and solutions to companies facing difficulties,
working closely with both businesses and finance providers. His services include
corporate trading and business reviews, restructuring, due diligence, M&A
assignments, fundraising, and dispute resolution. David's experience spans
multiple sectors, including hospitality and leisure, manufacturing and
technology, retail, professional and financial services, healthcare,
agriculture, logistics and distribution, property, engineering, and renewable
energy. He holds an Insolvency Practising Certificate from Chartered
Accountants Ireland, which authorises him to act as an Examiner, Liquidator, and
Receiver.
Philip Maher is a Director in Mazars's Financial Advisory Department
and has over 20 years' experience in advising clients on strategic and financial
matters, corporate finance, and corporate restructuring. Before this, Philip
spent over 13 years working with a big four practice both nationally and
internationally where he worked in various industry and finance roles. Philip is
a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA), and he
holds a BM (Hons.) Majoring in Accountancy and a Diploma in Corporate
Restructuring. Philip recently completed a Post Graduate Certificate in
Sustainable Development for Business in Trinity Business School. He has
experience working in restructuring and Insolvency over the last 15 years. In
relation to SCARP, Mazars have worked with several businesses that have utilised
SCARP as an effective Corporate restructuring tool. Mazars worked with a retail
& tourism business in the South-West that applied for SCARP in January 2022
and were the first formal rescue plan approved in Ireland. He is an ACCA Global
Council member, elected in 2021, is currently an Audit Committee member of ACCA
and he has served on the ACCA Ireland committee since 2018 having previously
been elected chair of ACCA Ireland Committee in 2021.
Laura-Michelle Moore works in the Advocacy and Voice
Department in the Institute which is responsible for delivering content and
guidance of relevance to members including on insolvency. She is a Chartered
Accountant and has many years' experience working in the area of Corporate
Recovery and Insolvency.
