The COVID-19 Support Schemes preliminary statistics as at 10 June 2021 provide details on the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS), the Covid Restrictions Support Scheme (CRSS) and the Debt Warehousing Scheme.
EWSS
There are 48,800 employers currently registered with Revenue for the EWSS (including 1,600 re-registrations). This excludes 5,100 employers who were previously registered. During June, to date, €84.2 million EWSS payments were paid to 20,800 employers in respect of 191,900 employees.
In May, the wholesale and retail trade, closely followed by the accommodation and food services sector accounted for the largest portion of employers claiming the EWSS, at 16 percent and 15 percent of total employers, respectively.
CRSS
There are currently 22,700 businesses with 26,700 premises registered for CRSS with Revenue. Total CRSS claims of €598 million have been made for 25,300 premises. Since 10 May of the 14,500 premises claiming, 8,300 have claimed for ‘Restart Week’ payments.
Debt Warehousing
To the end of May 2021, a total of €2.4 billion of tax debts were warehoused. Of this amount €1.3 billion relates to VAT debts. There is €1 billion of employers PAYE warehoused, which includes €391 million PRSI. Income tax debt of € 35 million, which includes €5 million PRSI is also warehoused.
