Last week, the European Commission signed two agreements between the European Union and Ukraine. These agreements will make it possible for Ukraine to participate in the EU’s Customs and Fiscalis programmes, allowing Ukraine to partake in the activities of both programmes with EU Members States and other participating countries.
FIscalis is the EU’s programme for cooperation in the area of taxation. The programme allows tax administrations to work together in fighting tax fraud, evasion and aggressive tax planning. The Customs programmes promotes cooperation among participating authorities, especially in its support for the development and operation of the central IT systems for EU customs.
Ukraine’s participation in the Customs programme will also include connection to the common secure customs network (CCN/CSI), necessary for Ukraine to apply the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS).
