  • The importance of Mentoring in Career Development (Caroline Reidy, The HR Suite) During this session Caroline will discuss the Four C’s of mentoring- Conversation, Connection, Community and Culture. Caroline will examine the important skills Mentors and Mentees should have.
  • Salary Negotiation Tips (Dave Riordan, Chartered Accountants Ireland)How to obtain a salary and package that is aligned with that of your peers, the market and suits your individual requirements.
  • Career Pivoting (Rory Lankford, FMC Agro Ireland) A Case Study on successful career pivoting and key takeaways.
  • Supercharge your Career (Sinead Donovan and Sinead Fox-Hamilton, Chartered Accountants Ireland) Key activities necessary to “supercharge your career” and why you should be doing them: building a professional network, skills diversification, being a part of a “professional family”, trusting your own instincts, believing in yourself and taking risks.
  • Future Leaders: Leading and Empowering Others (Jill O’Reilly, O’Reilly People Management) Jill will explore how empowering others can directly impact your success as a (future) leader.
  • How to Thrive Through Imposter Syndrome (James McSporran, McSporran Leadership Development) This session will explore some of the psychology behind imposter syndrome and give practical strategies for how to thrive, or help people on your team thrive through imposter syndrome when it strikes. We’ll look at how it forms, how you can use it to develop yourself, and how to coach others who are feeling held back.
  • Panel Discussion

Midwest Society: How is Data and AI influencing the role of today’s Accountant (Jake Kelly, Paul Tully, Nabanita Roy).

Ulster Society: Retaining and Motivating Your Talent (James McSporran, Patrick Gallen, Sarah Orange).

Cork Society: Employment Law Update/Overcoming Conflict in the Workplace (Deirdre Malone, David Swinburne).

London Society: Remote Working Now (John Lee, Chris Kane).

All afternoon sessions will be recorded and made available to participants proceeding the live session.

By the end of this course. participants will be able to:

  • Gain an understanding of and receive relevant insights on how to develop and successfully progress their own career trajectories.

Des Gibney – Leinster Society Chairperson – 2023/ 24 Term

Des qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2003 and worked in KPMG for a period before qualification. He is now an Insolvency Practitioner and Forensic Accountant and a Partner in McStay Luby Chartered Accountants.

Maria Zapciu

Maria a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland and a manager in McStay Luby Chartered Accountants. Maria is also a member of Restructuring and Insolvency Ireland.

Gemma Freeman, Dentons Ireland

Gemma is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution and Insolvency practice. She specializes in insolvency, corporate recovery related litigation and shareholder disputes.

Catherine Duggan, Senior enegry/sustainability specialist Grant Thornton

Catherine is a senior energy/sustainability specialist with 15 years global experience, who joined Grant Thornton in 2021 to lead the sustainability offering in Financial Services.

Orla Carolan, Director Financial Services Advisory, Grant Thornton

Orla Carolan, is a sustainability and financial reporting SME with extensive experience in regulatory reporting and accounting roles in financial services.

Dr Peter Robbins is Associate Professor of Innovation in DCU Business School.

Rosy Temple

Part of the 5th generation behind Magee 1866 which has over 150 years’ experience in designing, weaving & tailoring luxury fabrics and clothing in Co. Donegal, Ireland. Rosy joined the family business in 2018 and took over the mantle of CEO from her father in 2020.

Jim Connolly

Jim Connolly is a well-known figure in the pensions industry and has held many senior positions with PwC, Standard Life, Goodbody and Bank of Ireland. He is now Head of Retirement Planning for AIB (Allied Irish Bank) Private.

Paul Tully

Chris Kane, Author, Advisor, Non-Executive Director, Co-Founder Everythingomni.

Chris Kane has worked in the Corporate Real Estate sector for over 30 years, having operated as the Vice President of International Corporate Real Estate for The Walt Disney Company, before acting as Head of Corporate Real Estate at the BBC, where he was responsible for the creation of MediaCityUK in Salford, the redevelopment of Television Centre and overseas the £1bn development of Broadcasting House.
