Course Overview

Morning Plenary Session:

Opening Address

Barry Doyle - President, Chartered Accountants Ireland

Beyond Resilience: How to Use Adversity as Fuel for Growth (Brian Pennie, founder of Change is Possible)
Learn how to use life's challenges to our advantage, and ultimately, using adversity as our fuel for growth. By combining his own lived experience of turning anxiety into a superpower, Brian will deliver a series of evidence-based tools to help you to transform life's inevitable challenges into a way to learn and grow.

Stronger Together…building resilience through a network (Maria O’Connell, Experienced NED and Board Governance Consultant)

In this session you will hear how building solid relationships and nurturing a strong support network were key enablers in developing resilience to successfully carve out a highly rewarding and fulfilling career. Maria will relay her personal experiences and career progression, all filtered through the lens of resilience and reinvention…detailing the many challenges she has overcome, and how she overcame them.

Applying Resilience and Reinvention in the Real World: A Case Study: (John O’Neill, Tickets.ie)
John returns to this year’s Virtual CPD update session after speaking about the challenges his business faced during the pandemic at our 2021 conference. In this year’s session John will provide an update on his business activities since 2021, the challenges and obstacles overcome and what he had to do to ensure his business continued to survive.

Embracing Reinvention: Take That Leap and Achieve Your Highest Potential (Charlotte Rose Keating, Act On It Coaching)
Pursuing a goal, embarking on a new challenge and stepping out of your comfort zone brings excitement, but let’s face it—can also be terrifying. Becoming all that you are meant to be involves an element of risk. Scary stuff, right? Instead of leaping recklessly into the unknown or waiting for that proverbial net to show up before you make your next move, what if you could be your own safety net as you take charge of your future?  Join us for an empowering session where we'll explore how to take control of your journey, become the architect of your own safety net, and transform your dreams into reality with courage and confidence!

Building Resilience by Managing Your Defences (James McSporran, McSporran Leadership Development)

There's no avoiding it, change and complexity can bring out the worst in us. Many of us will have been left with regrets in the past about how we handled hard situations, unexpected change or difficult team members. Who do you become when the world doesn't go the way you'd like it to? This session will help you understand the psychology behind how your defence mechanisms might actually be stopping you from building resilience. You'll leave with practical tips on how to develop your self awareness, look for opportunities to grow and thrive as a professional in an ever changing landscape.
