Currently seeking a Finance Manager

Key Functions of the role :

The key responsibilities of the Finance Manager will include but are not limited to the following:
• Collaboratively steer multi-disciplinary programme teams to embed best practice governance to programme terms and processes • Financial management of all aspects of the co research activities, in particular research funding programmet • Acting as the primary liaison between Corporate Service units and programme teams to ensure that proper corporate governance is adhered to, deadlines are achieved, and spending targets are met. • Management of key programmes ensuring documented procedures, any grant agreements and governance is adhered to and all supporting documentation is in place prior to approving payments • Review of new and revised programmes, working closely with other teams, setting terms, re state aid, documentation of the processes, identifying risks, applying necessary internal controls and overseeing implementation of same • Financial management of EU research grants awarded to include overseeing reporting, audit, record management and bank account management • Working closely with BER operational team, provide financial and governance oversight to ensure the financial sustainability and efficiency of the BER programme, in line with legislative requirements, actively participating on internal management group and representing co on Governance Committee • Management of all financial aspects of the programme including financial reporting, budgeting and overseeing issuing of invoices, bank account management, collection of debts, etc. • Management of the budget and operational aspects of the main office. This will include liaison with Lead tenant, monitoring and review of lease terms ensuring compliance with same etc. • Preparation and presentation of reports to Audit and Risk Committee and Board • Play a key role in the overall Governance oversight of the Organisation assisting the Head of Finance and Corporate Services in ensuring that the governance structure is fit for purpose. • Work closely with team members in the Finance and Corporate Services Department and Heads of Departments in consultation and collaboration with Programme Managers.
The functions and responsibilities assigned to this role are based on the current requirements stated above and may be changed from time to time. The candidate appointed to this role requires flexibility to fulfil other responsibilities across the Finance Department.

Experience and Personal Qualities Required

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate;
• Fully accredited ACA / FCA and a minimum of three years’ post qualification experience • Proven expertise/knowledge in internal controls and governance. • Experience of ensuring compliance to financial controls and procedures • Experience of change management • Effective staff management skills. • Proven attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. • Excellent team-player skills and flexibility.
