Our client is a charity with 15M revenue/funding annually.
They are seeking a Financial Controller with immediate effect on either a 3-6 month contract or a permanent position.
As a member of the Management Team, you will play a key role in reporting performance as well as driving the budgeting, forecasting and costing activities across the organisation and managing the IT function. You will provide effective leadership and direction to the Finance and IT team and oversee the implementation of finance and IT policy and procedures, accounting controls and reporting protocols to a high standard.
The post will involve occasional travel to member projects in developing countries.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and develop the finance and IT team.
• Work with the CEO on a financial strategy
• Lead the development and implementation of finance and IT policies and procedures across the organisation
• Participate as an effective member of the senior management team, playing a role in strategic planning and implementation
• Maintain the policy register
• Budgeting, cash flow forecasting and scenario planning.
• Coordinate monthly preparation of management accounts and provide meaningful analysis
• Review budget vs actual results with managers quarterly and reforecast
• Manage and support all financial administration processes (including payroll, procurement, contract management of suppliers and insurance)
• Prepare statutory annual financial statements
• Manage the annual audit
• Manage the internal audit process
• Oversee financial reporting for donors
• Approve finance-related content/changes in project contracts
• Monitor grants to members and disbursement of funds
• Manage project audits
• Manage the completion of regulatory and other statutory returns
• Ensure compliance with relevant tax legislation
• Oversee business continuity planning
• Regular liaison and presentations to the Management Team and the Financial Oversight, Risk and Audit Committee (FORAC)
• Lead on IT systems development including CRM
• Any other ad hoc financial management responsibilities that may arise from time to time.
The Person :
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior financial role - ACA / FCA
• Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation preferable but not essential
• Experience of managing a team is key
• Experience of financial management in developing countries is a plus
Knowledge os Salaesforce is an advantage.
