Our client is a Café chain seeking a Financial Controller to assist and support the next stage of growth and development and undertake all aspects of financial management of the business, to improve the organisation's finance and management function. To direct the accounting operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Financial Controller’s responsibilities will include accounting and financial reporting, assisting with budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal financial control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate would have some retail experience and possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving, implementation skills and be highly organised.
Brilliant first step into FC level for perhaps a recently Qualified ACA keen to prove their strong commercial mindset.
Detailed Responsibilities
• Manage all accounting operations including, Purchases, Margin controls Accounts Payable/Receivables, Expense Management and Revenue Recognition
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements, with appropriate financial analysis.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy of the financial information
• Liaising with external auditors and accountants on pre and post year end work
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Oversee the H.R. function.
• Oversee the EPOS / ERP stock management system.
• Additional duties as necessary
Requirements and skills
• Experience with retail, hospitality, or high growth clients / business.
• 3 Plus years of overall accounting and finance experience - "Might suit a newly Qual with IT acumen from small firm jumping into the SME sector".
• Qualified ACA
• Experience with preparing monthly management accounts and assisting with the annual financial statement’s preparation.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Experience in implementing appropriate accounting and reporting E.R.P. software systems in a medium sized busines is not expected but an advantage.
• Previous experience in corporate finance would also be an advantage.
