OVERVIEW
Oxfam Ireland have recently established an Internal Audit function and are looking for volunteers to assist the resident Internal Auditor.
RETAIL TEAM LEADER – ROLE DESCRIPTION
Oxfam Ireland have a network of 45 retail shops across the island of Ireland, and one distribution centre located in Belfast.
A small team of volunteers have already been recruited in the Dublin area and audits are in progress. An initial audit program covering key financial controls has been developed. It is hoped that the audit program will be expanded to include additional controls in 2026.
The key roles to be performed by the Retail Team Leader include:
• Organising audits with shop managers and the internal audit volunteers.
• Assisting in training of new volunteers.
• Selecting samples for testing and performing reconciliations prior to the audits taking place.
• Reviewing draft reports to ensure consistency of audit ratings across all audit teams.
• Assisting to develop the expanded audit program for 2026.
• Working closely with the resident Internal Auditor.
The Team Leader position can be performed remotely, and the successful candidate will not be expected to attend all audits but may attend the audits which are close to where they are based. Full training will be provided.
To join us as a Retail Team Leader Volunteer, candidates should possess a range of skills and experience including:
• Internal Audit experience (retail experience a bonus but not essential).
• Proficient in the use of computers (Excel and Word).
• Enthusiasm to build and grow the retail audit volunteer team across Ireland.
The successful candidate should aim to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week to this role. The hours are flexible, but the candidate should have availability during normal working hours in order to work with other volunteers and the resident Internal Auditor.
Expense allowances for travel and subsistence are available in line with the Oxfam Ireland Policy.
