The duration of the training contract is typically three and a half years depending on exam exemptions. Background to the Post

As part of the ICAI ‘Training in Business’ training contract,  Trinity College Dublin, will provide a full study programme for graduates to undertake professional chartered accountancy exams while training within the University’s finance function.  The Financial Services Division seeks to provide sound financial advice in all areas of Trinity’s activities along with management information to support the decision making process throughout the University, to apply financial controls to safeguard the Trinity’s assets and to provide a responsive, effective, efficient and user friendly support service for the College community and students.

The successful candidate will be assigned to a specific team on commencement of employment and work directly with senior team members on a range of cases, interacting with clients, legal advisors and other professionals. This role includes the following:

 

  • Working with senior staff on extensive financial and fraud investigations in liquidations and assisting with the preparation of Section 682 reports for submission to the Director of Corporate Enforcement.
  • Preparing paperwork and evidence for litigation. Some examples of recent litigation taken by this office are fraudulent and reckless trading proceedings against directors, freezing their worldwide assets pending trial, restriction and disqualification applications.
  • Hands-on experience in Insolvency and Restructuring.
  • Working on trading liquidations and receiverships, for example maintaining receipts and payments trading summaries over the course of the receivership, ensuring compliance with CRO filing requirements, tax compliance and reporting on behalf of clients, financial institutions and other external bodies.
  • Working directly with professionals such as solicitors, estate agents, architects, engineers, construction professionals, insurance agents and other professionals
  • Assisting senior staff with administration work and other assignments including forensic accounting and special projects as required
