HMRC has recently updated its plastic packaging tax guidance as the tax is now more than 12 months old. HMRC has also published a consultation seeking views on draft legislation amending the Plastic Packaging Tax regulations.
When determining if registration is required using the look back test, it is now necessary to look back 12 months from the last day of the relevant month to check how much finished plastic packaging components were manufactured and imported. Look back to 1 April 2022 is no longer relevant.
