Programme objectives

This programme has been designed following extensive consultation with industry leaders to develop the critical skills required to succeed as a finance business partner.
It will build on your existing range of skills and competencies working in audit or in other areas such as financial reporting, layering on additional skills and fine tuning existing ones.

  • Analytical skills – the need to accurately diagnose the firm’s strategic position and to recommend appropriate responses using business strategy analysis, value chain analysis etc.
  • Commercial skills – the ability to influence and win over management colleagues and other staff by using presentation, communication, persuasion and negotiation skills in an ethical way.

The programme will offer candidates a tool-kit of techniques which addresses both needs so that each participant will become a more valued asset to the business and has a seat at the table when decisions are being made.
On completion of the programme, you will be more commercially aware, have gained advanced analytical tools such as strategic benchmarking, trend analysis, value chain analysis and understand the potential of both big and small data. These skills allied with an increased capacity to communicate, influence and persuade will transform participants and their approach.
