The London Society is a district society of Chartered Accountants Ireland, which is the largest and longest established accountancy body in Ireland.
The London Society has approximately 2,000 members and our mission is to act as a professional and social forum for Irish chartered accountants in London. We aim to achieve this objective through various CPD events and social activities.
Our objectives include:
- Providing innovative and high quality CPD seminars for members
- Providing regular opportunities for members to meet socially and assist newly arrived members to network with their UK colleagues
- Working closely with other Global Accounting Alliance (GAA) Institutes and Institute member groups in London
- Communicating regularly with our London-based members through monthly newsletters and regular email updates
- Developing chartered accountancy as a brand by means of local support and exposure.
- Representing the view and interests of London members to the council and executive of Chartered Accountants Ireland
- Supporting Irish charities and cultural organisations based in London
The society is organised by a dedicated committee of Irish chartered accountants and consists of 12 voluntary members including a chairman, vice chairman, treasurer and secretary. In addition, Denise Jones is employed on a part time basis to work on regional development and events.
Our members play an active role in the development of the London economy by working in the areas of finance, business and industry or by working in practice, offering expertise in audit, tax, accountancy and consultancy to a wide range of clients.
London Society Committee
The London Society Committee is made up of 9-12 voluntary London based members elected by an annual AGM. The Committee elects a Chairman, Vice Chairman and Treasurer each year. The Committee is supported by a professional administrator.
