Finbarr O’Connell

Finbarr O’Connell, AITI is a Director with KPMG Ireland, advising a wide variety of clients on VAT and relevant contracts tax (RCT). He joined KPMG in 2014, having worked in VAT advisory roles for 10 years with a number of other professional firms. Prior to working in VAT practice, Finbarr worked in the engineering and marketing industries, where he gained valuable experience of the practical VAT issues encountered by businesses, large and small.

Kerri O’Connell

Kerri O’Connell FCA, AITI, TEP, has been advising small and medium-sized businesses in Ireland for 20 years. The daughter of two entrepreneurs, she is constantly inspired by those with the ideas and commitment to start and grow businesses. Kerri’s education includes an international law degree, as well as accountancy, taxation and succession planning qualifications. She trained and worked in two of the ‘Big 4’ accountancy firms and was tax partner in a medium-sized accountancy practice for 11 years. More recently, Kerri has worked in industry and is the founder of tax consulting firm, Obvio Tax Services, advising on each phase of the business cycle: start-up, expansion and sale/succession.

Dermot O’Brien

Dermot O’Brien is an AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and Principal of Dermot O’Brien & Associates, a leading independent VAT consultancy firm. He has over 30 years’ experience working in VAT, having commenced his career with the Revenue Commissioners. Dermot is a former president of the Irish Tax Institute. He has written and lectured extensively on VAT, both in Ireland and overseas, and advises foreign governments on taxation matters. Dermot currently advises a wide range of clients, including leading corporations and other professional advisers, on all aspects of VAT.

Chris O'Riordan

Chris O’Riordan FCA, BA, MBA, PhD, is a lecturer in accounting at Waterford Institute of Technology since 2004. Prior to this he worked in a variety of financial and managerial roles in family businesses, SMEs and multinational companies, having first trained as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Chris is Course Leader for the Higher Diploma in Business in Management, and the Accounting Stream Leader on the Bachelor of Business (Hons) programme at WIT.

Ros O’Shea, BComm, MAcc, FCA, AITI, Dip Corp Gov, is a highly experienced business leader with a career spanning almost 20 years working with the board and executive of two of Ireland’s largest and most-respected companies: CRH plc, where she was Head of Group Compliance & Ethics, and Smurfit Kappa Group plc. An Irish Chartered Accountant by profession, Ros is a partner in Acorn Governance Solutions, sits on the boards of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland and the Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital, is Programme Director for the Diploma in Governance & Compliance at the Irish Management Institute and also runs programmes for the Institute of Directors on these topics.
