Extern is a community and voluntary organisation that works alongside children, young people, and families facing challenges to empower positive change and support family unity. We support people who are homeless or facing homelessness, those dealing with mental health issues and the impact of suicide, people experiencing problem drug and alcohol use and people living with problem gambling. We also support refugees, the Traveller community and people living with an offending past, to change their lives.
Extern has been operating since 1978 and employs over 600 staff and is operational in 27 counties across the island of Ireland. We are commissioned by public sector bodies and government departments. Our innovative services are trauma aware and we are committed to meeting the ever changing needs of our service users without judgement.
We are currently seeking to appoint new Board Directors to positively contribute to the delivery of the organisations Mission, Vision, Strategy and Values.
If you have a background or experience in accountancy, finance or governance at board or senior management level and believe you could make a difference to the lives of the many people we support, then we would love to hear from you.
Extern Board Directors are not remunerated but reasonable travel and subsistence allowances are paid. Openness and transparency are key requirements so all conflicts of interest must be declared on application.
