Certificate in Customs and Trade
Rarely has trade been more challenging than it is in 2025. Change is impacting manufacturing, distribution, purchasing and sales, whether distance selling or traditional. Companies and their advisers and agents need to protect themselves against shock changes in the trading environment, and against unintentional non-compliance with potentially existential consequences.
This programme offers a professionally recognised qualification in customs and international trade practices, with an emphasis on structured compliance with the increasingly demanding regulatory regimes for importers, exporters and their agents.
The content focuses on the practical knowledge and skills required for successful and compliant international trading. It explains the legal and technical framework of trade regulation, as a context for understanding and dealing with current practical challenges. The practicality of the course is enhanced by the hands-on experience of our trainers, who are all practising customs consultants, and we encourage input from the participants, who are encouraged to raise their own particular problems for discussion.
The 2025 course is different from previous years, which were coloured by UK’s exit from the EU. The global movement towards more protective measures, including the EU, the UK and the USA, necessitates a more extensive treatment of risk management and a detailed exploration of strategic options for supply chains. The course has been extended to 5 days, and includes a half-day series of case studies to deliver even more practical learning.
This course will equip you to develop your career or business in international trade, enhancing your ability to give advice, to perform agency functions, or to engage with Customs authorities and processes on your own behalf or for clients.
