Chartered Accountants Ireland (The Institute) is a membership body representing 38,000 influential members throughout the globe. Our role is to educate, represent and support our members. Our members work in senior positions in practice and industry. We are committed to restoring confidence at every level of the economy. We work with governments and businesses to raise awareness of the importance of sound financial advice.

Institute Values

The Institute seeks to ensure an environment based on its values of Innovation with Ambition, Collaboration for Impact, Speed and Simplicity, Trust, Inclusion, and For Tomorrow, For Good. We work with expert colleagues drawn from practice and industry, developing and advocating policy on matters relating to tax, financial reporting, audit and assurance, ethics and governance and business law. The department numbers over 20 professionals.

The tax professionals within the department provide information on key tax developments in both the Irish and UK jurisdictions where most of our members operate. We monitor developments in EU law so that we can comment and advise on domestic legislation. We respond to our members’ views on aspects of tax law and administration which create difficulties both in industry and in practice, and we work with Government and Government bodies to highlight concerns and develop solutions. Operating on a commercial basis, the tax outputs include Chartered Accountants Tax News, TaxSource and tax.point.
