Dr Claire Hayes is a consultant clinical psychologist, Clinical Director with Aware, lecturer, author and researcher with over 30 years’ experience. Her particular interest is in helping people to understand their stressors and to learn practical, evidence-based ways of coping using psychoeducational cognitive behavioural approaches. Claire presented ‘Becoming Aware: A Proactive Approach to Good Mental Health for Chartered Accountants’ at the Chartered Accountants Ireland 2013 Annual Conference. She is also author of How to Cope: The Welcoming Approach (Gill & Macmillan, 2015) and her third book, Finding Hope in the Age of Anxiety was published by Gill in February 2017.

Derek Henry

Derek Henry BAAF, MBS, FCA, AITI, Dip. Legal is a Tax Partner at BDO Ireland, which he joined from Ernst & Young in 2006. He has over 16 years’ experience in corporation tax, specialising in the R&D Tax Credit regime and, more recently, the Knowledge Development Box. Derek heads up BDO’s expert R&D Tax Credit team of engineers and accountants, with clients ranging from large multinationals to indigenous Irish businesses in growth-focused sectors, including ICT, pharma, medical technology and agri-food. Derek is a member of the CCAB-I Tax Committee, the Revenue R&D Discussion Group and the Revenue TALC BEPS Implementation Forum.

Neil Hughes, FCA, is managing partner of Baker Tilly Hughes Blake Chartered Accountants, a firm specialising in insolvency and corporate recovery. He has extensive experience of examinership and has acted as examiner on numerous occasions, including for Shamrock Rovers FC, the Chartbusters Group, and Optilase. Neil lectures widely on the subject of corporate recovery and is also a regular business commentator in the national media.

Noel Hyndman

Noel Hyndman is Professor of Management Accounting (and Director of the Centre for Not-for-profit and Public-sector Research) at Queen’s University in Belfast. He has previously held professorships at the University of Ottawa in Canada, the University of Sydney in Australia and the University of Ulster. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, he was awarded a PhD for his research in financial reporting by charities. Noel was a member of the Annual Reporting Advisory Group established by the Charity Commissioners for England and Wales between 2003 and 2005 and has been a member of the Charity SORP Committee since 2006. He was a member of the Department for Social Development (Northern Ireland)/Charity Commission for Northern Ireland Accounts and Reports Working Group during 2014 and 2015. Currently, he is Chair of the British Accounting and Finance Association’s Public Services and Charities Special Interest Group.
