About the committee
The D & I committee is made up of volunteers with the objective of raising awareness of D & I topics, promoting inclusion, educating and supporting members and students and ensuring that the profession is accessible to all.
Working groups
As well as working collectively, to enhance the development of awareness and potential solutions and actions relating to key themes of equality, diversity and inclusion, the committee has been assigned to specific working groups which are as follows:
- Gender
- LGBTQ+ and ethnicity
- Age and disability
Networking groups
BALANCE is a networking group for LGBTQ+ members, students and allies, and the objective is to create a sense of belonging, mobility, diversity and ongoing learning for LGBTQ+ members, staff, students, allies and potential members.
Launched in 2022, the Ethnicity Networking Group promotes a sense of belonging and inclusion for people who belong to Traveller, Black, Asian and other minority ethnic groups in the profession.

Typical activities
- Support of Pride events and initiatives.
- Hosting of International Women's Day events in collaboration with Institute district societies.
- Hosting of returners workshops.
- Provision of careers webinars aimed at supporting female members.
- Support of the Trinity Centre for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (TCPID) programme.
- Publication of articles via Institute channels.
- D & I surveying of members and students.
- Collaboration with Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW) on a profession-wide survey.
