Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
CPD is the means by which Chartered Accountants develop and maintain the level of competency necessary to provide high quality services to clients, employers and other stakeholders.
All members of the Institute are required to engage in a programme of CPD in accordance with the provisions of the CPD Regulations set by the Board.
For further information and guidance please see our CPD support and guidance page.
All Institute members are required to complete an individual annual return confirming that they have reviewed their responsibilities, undertaken appropriate CPD activities and considered the impact of these activities on their professional development.
Individuals who are approved by the Institute as responsible individuals (‘RIs’) have additional specific CPD obligations in accordance with the Institute’s Audit Regulations. All RIs, registered by the Institute in Ireland and/or the UK, are required to undertake appropriate programs of audit-related CPD. RIs registered in Ireland must also comply with IAASA’s CPD Guidelines which are now reflected in the Institute’s Audit Regulations, Ireland. More information is available on the Institute’s Hub for CPD for RIs in Ireland.
All RIs registered by the Institute in Ireland are required to complete an annual declaration of compliance with their CPD obligations in accordance with the Institute’s Audit Regulations.
