Before carrying on certain types of business, members and firms must ensure they have been authorised by Chartered Accountants Ireland (or another competent authority) to do so.

The areas which require specific permission or authorisation are:

  • Audit
  • Investment Business ROI & UK
  • Insolvency
  • Public Practice

Members who provide book-keeping services or trust or company services in the Republic of Ireland may be required to register with Chartered Accountants Ireland or another competent authority for anti-money laundering supervision purposes.

Guidance to assist member and firms both in ROI and UK, to comply with anti-money laundering rules, is also included in this section.
