  • Smartphones / mobile devices
  • Surface Pro or Surface RT
  • Linux operating system
  • Windows 10 and  11 in S mode or Surface RT
    Windows 10 S Mode can be disabled at your own discretion. However, once you switch out of S mode, Windows is not able to revert back into S mode. The change is permanent.
  • You will not be permitted to sit any exam with remote control software running on your computer. Applications like TeamViewer, GoToMyPC, AnyDesk, etc.
  • No running inside virtual machine. You will be asked to reconnect using your host operating system to take your exam

ProctorU Guardian Browser

ProctorU use their own browser called 'Guardian Browser. It is essential for all students to download and install this prior to practice onboarding and exam day. If the ProctorU Guardian Browser is not downloaded and installed in advance, students will experience delays on exam day. Students using Mac operating systems will need to complete additional screen recording steps. Do not use the ProctorU Guardian Browser when attempting your practice papers or mock exams on Cirrus. The ProctorU Guardian Browser should only be used for Practice Onboarding, all interim assessments and main exam sittings. 

Once the exam session has ended, training firms may request students to uninstall the ProctorU Guardian Browser.

Mac users - How to enable screen recording for ProctorU Guardian Browser

Please note these steps are only applicable to students using Mac operating systems. It is essential for all Mac users to complete these extra screen recording steps. If these steps are not completed prior to exam day, students will experience delays onboarding. If a student uninstalls the ProctorU Guardian Browser, they must complete these steps again when re-installing the Guardian Browser before their next exam session(s).

Important notes when using ProctorU Guardian Browser

  • When copying & pasting in the exam, students should only use 'Ctrl C' & 'Ctrl V'. The copy & paste functionality (right click)  using the trackpad will not work. 
  • If you experience a blank white screen when reconnecting to your exam, please click the 'Refresh' button, located at the top left hand corner of the Guardian Browser. 
  • Once your exam is submitted, close out of the ProctorU Guardian Browser by clicking the 'X' at the top right hand corner of the browser. Do not attempt to log back into the Cirrus platform.  
  • The ProctorU Guardian Browser should only be used for Practice Onboarding, all interim assessments and main exam sittings. 
  • Do not use the ProctorU Guardian Browser when attempting your practice papers or mock exams on Cirrus. You will not be able to save or print your practice paper or mock exam answers using the ProctorU Guardian Browser.
