  1. What  is an online CPD course?

CPD online courses provide up-to-date technical information on a range of subjects from Financial Reporting to Taxation. They have been designed to make online learning accessible and flexible for you.

The online courses are delivered via pre-recorded video lectures which are presented by expert speakers and accompanied by supporting graphics and slides. The course allows you to hear the presenter and see the presentation slides move along on screen in time with the audio recording. Our online CPD courses consist of audio recordings and slides, from courses that have taken place as part of our regular classroom based CPD schedule.

  2. What is a CPD webinar (Live)?

CPD webinars are informative online events where one of our expert speakers, or panel of speakers, deliver a presentation live online at a scheduled time. We regularly offer a series of wide-ranging webinars to make sure you are up-to-speed with the latest information and current best-practice.

The webinars often allow for questions from the audience and other audience participation like online polls, quizzes, and other available interactive tools. If you can’t attend remotely during the live session, we’ll also offer a recorded version that you can watch at a time that suits you.

  3. What is a virtual classroom?

A virtual classroom is a live and interactive online learning environment, where presenters and course attendee engage with course materials, interact with one another, and work in groups together. The aim is to provide the same great learning experience you get in a physical classroom, except in an online format.

The key distinction of a virtual classroom is that it takes place in a live, synchronous setting and may involve some pre and post course work such as viewing of pre-recorded videos or reading supporting materials or articles. These asynchronous materials are built around the presenter led, virtual classroom session itself where a range of tools may be used to foster live interaction between presenter and participants, these include; two way video, virtual break-out sessions, polls, screen-sharing, and interactive Q&A, all designed to create an immersive learning experience.

Virtual classrooms are not a passive experience and participants are encouraged to engage, to share their thoughts and experience as well as undertaking collaborative and individual activities. In this type of interaction, the presenter has the particularly important role of the moderator who guides the learning process and supports group activities and discussions.

  8. How to access my live online IT courses?

    • Test session. We run a test session prior to the training so that any technical or other issues can be identified and resolved in advance. It is strongly recommended that all participants attend the test session. Generally the test session will be at 16.30 on the day prior to the course and will take about 10 minutes. Login details will be sent prior to this.
    • Two monitors. Having two monitors is very strongly recommended for this training. It allows you to view the trainers PC in one monitor and the application that is the subject of the training in the other. On a single screen it can be difficult to arrange the trainers screen and your own application comfortably. If you only have a single screen please inform the trainer - ideally before the test session - and they can help you to get the best from the training session.
    • Microsoft Office version. We use Microsoft Office 365 Professional. If you are using an older version please be aware that you might not be able to do some of the exercises that are using the latest features.
    • Windows 10. We prepare the files and deliver the course using Windows 10. If you are using a MacBook or other platform please be aware that there can sometimes be incompatibilities and there are certain features that are not available on the Macintosh edition of Microsoft Office 365 Professional. These issues can be identified and resolved during the test session.
