Professional Standards Administrator

Role based in Chartered Accountants Ireland, Belfast 

The Professional Standards Department of Chartered Accountants Ireland, along with the relevant compliance and disciplinary committees is responsible for the delivery of the Institute’s regulation and disciplinary obligations which derive both from statute and its own Bye-Laws & Regulations.

We are recruiting for an Annual Returns Administrator to join our team. Members are required to complete an Individual Annual Return (IAR) to renew their Practising Certificate, Insolvency Licence and their Insolvency Practising Certificate.  They must also complete an IAR to confirm their compliance with the CPD Regulations. This role will involve the issue and processing of Individual Annual Returns (IAR), Firms Annual Returns (FAR) and Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII).

The role:

The main functions and responsibilities of this role will include, although not confined to:

Annual Returns Administration

  • Ensuring that annual returns are issued to all relevant practising firms or members in a timely manner and reminders issued in accordance with written procedures.
  • Processing annual returns and issuing correspondence where necessary.
  • Communicating and liaising with members, firms and other members of staff.
  • Updating annual return databases and records on regular basis.

     

    General Administration

  • Assisting with all standard administrative tasks within the Professional Standards Department and providing cover for colleagues as necessary.
  • Assisting with the implementation of various policies and procedures as required.
  • Performing any other ad-hoc duties as may be required to ensure that the objectives of PSD are met.

     

    Continuous Improvement Activities

  • To identify and deliver service improvement activity across the annual returns team through employing process improvement methodologies and the application of innovative thinking
  • To work with the Head of Professional Authorisations to build a continuous improvement environment to support an ongoing programme of change
  • To support the delivery of better value and greater efficiency in business processes and identification of better ways of working

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable experience implementing new processes with client populations.
  • Be a strong communicator and have the ability to positively influence situations.
  • Have excellent organisational skills with a proven ability to manage detail.
  • Have excellent IT skills and be MS office proficient.
  • Demonstrable experience in a customer centric culture providing best in class customer centric engagement.
  • Experience in working in a continuous improvement environment.

Desirable

  • Experience in a legal, compliance or regulatory environment is desirable.
  • An interest in continuous improvement analytical experience
  • Clear and analytical thinker with the ability to exercise sound initiative and judgement through thinking through issues and offering practical solutions.
